50 Things To DO Before Your Kid Turns 12
My six-year old son has a list of things he wants to do when get he gets to a certain age: he wants to know how to cook by age 7, ride a skateboard when he’s 16, and buy a pick-up truck when he’s 17. It’s nice that he has some things to look forward to.
I recently came across this list of 50 recommended activities for kids before they reach the age of 12. It’s by the UK-based charity National Trust and is part of their campaign to bring back some good old-fashioned values to today’s kids.
Basically, most of the activities in the list are things we did as kids – running in the rain and playing with mud. What is sad, is that many of today’s children don’t do these stuff we considered fun. National Trust found out that one in 10 children in the UK don’t play in wild places compared with almost half a generation ago. A third have never climbed a tree. One in 10 doesn’t know how to ride a bike.
I’m sharing the list with you. I also hope to include some of these activities in my own son’s must-do list. If you want the full list as well as tips on how you can get better at these adventures, you can check out: https://www.50things.org.uk/
