Filipino Children’s Books at the Manila International Book Fair!
Every year, we join the hundreds who make their annual pilgrimage to the MANILA INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR. We scour the thousands of books in search of good bargains. Some of the best buys we’ve made are children’s books written, illustrated, and published by our fellow Pinoys. This year, as the 33rd MIBF opens its doors at the SMX Convention Center, we’re going to be on the lookout for more!
TAHANAN Books, which is turning 20, is giving as much as a 50% discount on its books and will launch new ones. We’re hoping to grab a copy of “Ay Naku!”. It’s a book of simple Tagalog words for toddlers and winner of the 2nd National Children’s Book Award.
ADARNA is also launching new titles, such as “Alamat ng Ampalaya”, a big book by Augie Rivera, on 10 am, Friday, September 14. There will be storytelling sessions, games, book signings, and freebies for kids.
We loved Segundo Matias Jr’s series “Kwentong Nanay” from LAMPARA BOOKS last year and we’re hoping he will have new titles this year! Lampara will also have a children’s storytelling competition on September 16, Sunday.
THE MIBF will run until Sunday, September 16, 2012.
There will also be a two-day conference on early childhood education on September 14 and 15 at Function Room 3 of the SMX. Guest speakers will share their perspectives, opinions, and expertise on a variety of topics about early childhood education. Schools and learning centers will showcase their products and services through interactive exhibits for kids.
Entrance fee is P20 for adults and P15 for students, kids below 4 feet, and senior citizens.
